HISTORY
Long time ago, there was a place ruled by people called the Ata-Bukidnon. They settled in the place they named “bantang” due to its land structure that was so high. You need to climb hard in order for you to get there. At the top was a forest where wild animals such as wild boar, monkeys and deer used to live with the people, but what attracted people the most was the massive number of bees. People climb “bantang” just to drink honeybees. Years after they call it Binantangan came from the word “nabantang” which means an elevated place.
Binantangan celebrates their fiesta every 24th day of March.
It was in the year 1984 when three great persons sum up their minds, to build an elementary school in Binantangan. They were Solomon Habagat, Efepanyo Cabuntal and Floryan Dagodog. It was Floryan Dagodog who asked Felix Claro, the land owner, for an area of the school. Felix Claro liked the plan so he donated a land for a school site. It was all realized right away through the help of the parents and local government. On October 1985, one classroom was constructed made of woods and nipa. Mrs. Reyes was the first teacher at that time and followed by Mrs. Pellejo. In the year 1989, the son of Felix Claro became the PTCA President. He is Federiko Claro. He is still the PTA president until today.
It was hard to bring materials for the construction of the School because there was no road for trucks and vehicles. Distance was very far from the highway. All the way people lifted all the materials up to the school site. It was not easy, but through the collaborative effort of the parents, teachers and the government unit, things were made possible. Up to this present there were seven classrooms already existing. They said that it was hard work and commitment who built the school of Binantangan.
